Since we have reached the Dakotas…If caught in the open during the atmospheric discharges known as lightning, assume the baseball catchers position. You want to be on the balls of your feet (Catcher’s equipment optional). This info was passed to me by an experienced hiker and boy scout leader during a discussion about lightning. If you have the presence of mind during this life threatening event, pretend you are giving hand signals to a big league pitcher. Let’s see..it’s two fingers down for curve, one finger for fastball, & three fingers for screwball. Just another Helpful Hint from Mr. Safety
