Day four has been spectacular. We began (late) on the WA side in Stevenson and descended to the river, where with a nice tailwind we zipped along Hwy 14 benefitting from courteous drivers as there were no shoulders on the road and multiple tunnels ( really got the heart rate up by sprinting through the tunnels).

The bridge over to Hood River is 0.8 miles long, narrow, subject to high winds, has an open grate surface and is closed to bicyclists.

Roger’s plan was to “sneak” across the bridge anyway. My plan was to flag down someone in a pickup truck.

Well for those of you who swear by “EFI” (every friggin’ inch), and you know who you are, we are now and forever 0.8 miles short of our goal.

Anyway, after a celebratory beer at (employee-owned) Full Sail brewery, we took the old historic Columbia River scenic route (quick stiff climb through several switchbacks) and were treated to an awesome ride high above the river with gorgeous views in all directions. Stunning stunning stunning.
