All in all though not a bad first rain; worse is no doubt yet to come.

Trick for drying wet shoes overnight: stuff them with newspaper. You might have to change the paper if shoes are soaked, but they will be dry by morning
Thanks for the tip. We stopped and put on booties do were okay.
