Can I get a witness?

A few miles ago, a good-hearted driver who had stopped on Hunter Mill Rd to allow bikers on the W&OD trail to cross the street was rear ended by a fuel truck that was following too closely. Car was banged up a bit, but everyone seemed to be okay and the lead biker stayed to give his name as a witness.

While I imagine the driver will think twice about stopping for bikers again, still it was good etiquette by him as well as the cyclist, and a good reminder of how everything can change in an instant.

  1. Ride defensively, and thank God everyone was alright. That is a road punctuated by hills and dales, and cars, bikes and yes the occasional warhorse and rider. Great good luck on your journey Bob, safe, happy and healthy riding. Love, G
